The new slow and steady wheat for early sowing options
- Mammoth (trialled as IGW6755) is a unique, very slow maturing APW spring wheat with excellent yield potential across all environments when sown in its ideal sowing window.
- Mammoth ‘s unique phenology makes it an excellent option for an early break scenario.
- It has a very slow spring maturity, slightly quicker than Illabo, suited to sowing from late March through to late April.
- Unlike winter wheats that have similar maturity, Mammoth does not have the same vernalisation requirement. This allows Mammoth to continue to develop using day length rather than needing low temperature to trigger flowering. This attribute is advantageous in both high and low rainfall regions as it allows Mammoth to respond to seasonal conditions and minimize frost risk.
- Good all-round disease resistance profile including good yellow spot (MRMSp) and stripe rust (MRMSp – WA pathotype) resistance.
- Good physical grain quality package including good grain size, observed in both early sown and main season trial series.
- EPR $3.50/t ex GST
Mammoth is available for planting from local resellers and Seedclub members.
