We are searching for a Physiologist to join our ever-evolving company.
Develop and apply plant physiology methods to characterise plant breeding material, with the final objective of enabling the breeding programs to integrate new traits into variety development pipelines. Undertake field based applied research in plant physiology to validate/quantify the out puts of physiology related projects, including scaling up of screening methodologies. Investigate and validate environmental impacts on commercial and near release varieties.
TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS ROLE, YOU WILL HAVE:
The ideal candidate will have expertise in plant physiology and crop science, with a strong focus on cereal productivity and adaptation to diverse environmental conditions.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work with the breeding programs to assess and implement new crop and plot based-level methodologies. These methods may be designed to characterise advanced lines and assist breeders in parental selection and used for population enrichment and early generation line selection
- Support the physiological characterisation and dissection of gene-edited traits Work with the breeding programs to assess the value proposition of novel traits and integrate such pre-breeding traits into variety development pipelines
- Work with the R&D Manager and Breeders in the application for physiology related grant funding Key support/contact person for existing and future physiology-related projects
- Further develop InterGrain’s remote sensing capacity. Take responsibility for drone/satellite activity and coordination for designing and assessing suitability of measurements and the development of the strategic plan for future deployment of drones and other capital requirements
- Enhance the breeding programs’ & marketing team’s understanding of newly released variety GxE, including increased understanding of iClassdrivers
