THE ROLE
The Field Technician position assists the Field Operations Lead to perform all field related duties, including:
- Field selection and prep, including soil sampling
- Sowing operations
- Field and crop management, including pesticide application via chemical spraying
- Harvest operations
- Equipment maintenance
- Transport operations (of machinery, grain samples, fertilizer, chemicals etc.)
- Water and irrigation management
- Data collection and management, including environmental, yield and GPS data Use of GPS systems
- Perform hand rogueing of off types in commercial bulk ups
- Assist the commercial seed team when require
In the performance of these duties, the Field Technician will be required to work extensively at the Wundowie Farm, involving a fair amount of travel. They will also be required to operate agricultural machinery (tractors, spray rigs, harvesters, trucks),and will need to possess or obtain the relevant licenses for these activities on public roads (MR or higher).Chemical application and handling will be regularly required, all relevant training and qualifications will be provided. A good understanding of agronomy and current farming practice is highly desirable or can be developed through study and courses. The Field Technician will be expected to perform duties under the supervision of warehouse staff to assist in our busy times such as seed preparation and harvest prep.

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team
- A proven ability to learn quickly on the job, self-motivated and meet specific goals and objectives within strict deadlines
- Experience handling and applying agricultural chemicals an advantage but not essential.
- Current manual driver’s license (heavier classes an advantage, as the successful applicant may be required to obtain at least a Medium Rigid license)
- Australian citizenship or immigration status to be legally employed in Australia
