National Cereal Breeding

Wheat Breeding

InterGrain has structured its wheat breeding into two programs to provide a balanced approach to its national breeding strategy for the diverse Australian environments. The two programs are agro-climatically and quality focused and all are concentrating on faster genetic introgression of important characteristics to provide greater genetic gain and more productive varieties for Australian growers

Barley Breeding

InterGrain’s national barley programs have been designed to enable the breeders to focus on particular regional environments, mid-long season and mid-short season, to enable the development of high yielding, excellent quality, broadly adapted varieties, with effective disease resistance and abiotic stress tolerance which are bred to suit target Australian barley growing regions. The two programs are also dedicated to working closely with industry on variety market development to assist with end-user adoption to provide further value for Australian barley growers.
