InterGrain is a world class plant breeding company and our mission is to deliver market leading wheat, barley, and oat varieties to support the competitive advantage and sustainability of the Australian agriculture sector. As part of our cereal breeding program, potential new variety releases undergo significant quality evaluation, which is an important part of the variety classification process in Australia.

Our quality lab is based in Bibra Lake, WA, and our laboratory technicians perform a wide range of analyses on cereal grain products (wheat, barley, oats).

Our skilled staff ensure a high degree of accuracy in their own work and oversee the quality control, calibration, and use of specialised and analytical instruments in a laboratory testing environment.

If you are a professional looking to further your technical quality career, then we are keen to hear from dynamic, suitably qualified individuals who are interested in joining our Laboratory team. This person will be responsible for conducting routine quality testing on cereal grain products, with particular focus on quality testing of wheat grain, flour, dough, and end products.

The successful applicant will:

  • Perform routine tests on grain and flour samples
  • Make bread, noodle and biscuit products, and perform objective and sensory tests
  • Participate in quality assurance and proficiency testing programs
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and glassware in a clean and functional condition
  • Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment
  • Record, interpret and report results
  • Contribute towards Laboratory projects

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • A degree in Food Science, or similar scientific or laboratory qualifications
  • Previous laboratory experience is desirable
  • Baking and or milling experience highly desirable
  • Ability to organise and prioritise workload
  • Ability to work both as a team member and independently
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to assist and support change
  • Excellent computer literacy, particularly with Office program
  • Must hold Permanent Residence status to be considered for this role
