InterGrain has a strong team of cereal breeders who are responsible for the development of InterGrain’s wheat and barley varieties. InterGrain has a well-developed structure for managing all aspects of successful breeding programs.
InterGrain has excellent seed storage and processing facilities located at its Bibra Lake head office and regional centre, Horsham. The purpose designed sites provide temperature controlled, long term storage and utilise leading technology, including a robotic system for seed packaging.
Combining an in-house capability with the strategic contracting of commercial trial operators, InterGrain has a highly flexible capacity for undertaking trial programs throughout Australia, providing thorough testing of breeding lines in a diverse range of environments to allow efficient selection of improved varieties. InterGrain is also an industry leader in the use of state of the art spatial and cluster analyses to assist in the efficient selection of improved breeding lines.
Current InterGrain varieties in commercial production are industry leaders, Chief CL Plus, Impress CL Plus, Emu Rock, Wyalkatchem and Magenta are high yielding wheats, and Bonnie Rock is a benchmark for AH quality. InterGrain Udon noodle varieties, Ninja, Zen, Supreme, Binnu, Yandanooka and Fortune are the benchmark, worldwide, in the Japanese white salted Udon noodle market.
La Trobe, Flinders and Bass are the latest high quality export malting varieties released by InterGrain, demonstrating excellent malt extract and diastase characteristics. Rosalind and Spartacus CL are recent varietal releases setting new yield benchmarks. Rosalind is Australia's highest yielding feed barley offering yield and yield stability for growers, while Spartacus CL provides a quantum yield improvement as a Clearfield® barley.
