Western Australia

In WA this spring be sure to check out new seasonal wheat comers, RockStar and Vixen. These complementary wheats provide alternative maturity classes to assist in varying flowering windows across wheat programs during critical spring stress windows.

New IMI, potential malting barley, Maximus CL, will be arriving in the arena in 2021, rivaling Spartacus CL with its improved WA yield and disease resistance package. Another IMI gladiator will also be debuting in 2021, IGB1908 or IGB1967, for those looking for an alternative IMI barley plant type.

SOUTH AUSTRALIA

2020 has been a big year in SA with the widespread interest in Vixen and RockStar wheats. Vixen’s stellar 2019 NVT yield performance, coupled with its quick-mid maturity and good vigour is one to pursue if you haven’t already. Similarly, RockStar is proving itself as an exceptional option for earlier sowings. On the barley front Maximus CL, as the Spartacus CL replacement, is on its way. New IMI barleys IGB1908/IGB1967 are also on their way and have a prostrate plant type and are agronomically similar to Compass.
